PLAT Mtg (Adv. Tech. Comm. Mtg) Last Wed, 8:30 AM Plan Commission Office

This is the Advisory Technical Committee (or PLAT) Meeting which takes place before the process of rezoning/permitting can begin.  It is open to the public, however, it is not advertised to the public.   It is held on the  LAST Wednesday of each month at 8:30 A.M. in the Kokomo – Howard County Plan Commission  Conference Room,   224 N. Main St. Kokomo.

Anytime a new building plan is submitted or “petitioned”, it must first be submitted to the follow agencies,  who have “plan reviewers” who will examine the building request and provide “review comments” back to the petitioners  on what is required to get the plan approved.  The agencies who review each submission are:  The Kokomo Plan Commission; the Kokomo Dept. of Engineering, Inspection & Traffic Services; Kokomo Wastewater Treatment Plant;  and the Kokomo Fire Department.   If the project requires draining into a Howard County Regulated Drain, the petitioner must also submit their plans to the Howard County Drainage Board.    Plan Reviewers will send their 1st round of review comments directly to the petitioner.  The petitioner will review the comments for any issues for discussion at the Wednesday Committee (PLAT)  meeting.  At the meeting, the Committee will review the plan reviewers comments, discuss the comments with the petitioner and prepare a final comment list.  Plans revised to reflect the Committee meeting final comments are submitted.
