SUMMARY:Rally at Governor Braun’s Mansion to protest SB1 and HB1001, Monday Apr 21, 6:30 PM
DESCRIPTION:Hoosiers invited to “Roll Up Your Sleeves” Rally at Governor’s Mansion (4750 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis)  April 21 to demand VETO of SB1 and Real Property Tax Reform!!Indianapolis, IN – The Coalition of Central Indiana Tea Parties, along with Indy Tea Party North, Indy Defenders of Liberty West, Lafayette Citizens in Action, and concerned citizens across thestate, are calling on all Hoosiers to join a public rally at 6:30 PM on Monday, April 21 outside the Governor’s Mansion on North Meridian Street (between 46th and 49th Streets in Indianapolis). The protest is a direct response to Senate Bill 1 (SB1), a deceitful bill the General Assembly is promoting as property tax reform, but which falls far short of what was promised by GovernorMike Braun during his 2024 campaign.“SB1 is not true property tax relief,” said Adam Harvey, Chairman of the Coalition. “It does nothing to fix the broken system that punishes homeowners, especially seniors and workingfamilies. Governor Braun promised bold reform. This bill is anything but.”The rally will also oppose a quiet move in the state budget (HB1001) to strip control of TrustIndiana from the elected State Treasurer and hand it to a board of bankers. TrustIndiana isa successful investment program that manages local government funds safely and responsibly. Turning control over to financial insiders is crony capitalism at its worst, risking taxpayer moneyfor private gain. The Coalition’s Demands:● Governor Braun must VETO SB1 if it passes.● Call a special session to create real, meaningful property tax reform.● Protect TrustIndiana by removing the budget language that hands control to abanker-appointed board.● Stop taxing unrealized gains on property using assessed values, and start puttingtaxpayers first.● Exempt homesteads from tax seizure.“This is about keeping promises, standing up for taxpayers, and stopping backroom deals thatbenefit insiders,” said Rick Barr, of Indy Defenders of Liberty West. “We’re showing up on April21 to make sure our voices are heard loud and clear.”Signed,The Coalition of Central Indiana Tea PartiesAdam Harvey, Chairman Joseph Bortka, Rules and Procedures ChairIndy Tea Party North Dave Bond, ChairIndy Defenders of Liberty West Rick Barr, ChairLafayette Citizens in Action Mike Morris, ChairRichard Bagsby, Candidate for State Senate, District 22EPIC, Election and Political Integrity Club Penny Bigelow, ChairHoosier Summit John Schmitz, ChairHoosier Freedom Caucus Spiro Iraclianos, ChairAMAC of Indiana Brad SmithFor more information about the Coalition of Central Indiana Tea Parties, visit:https://www.coalitionofcentralindianateaparties.org/html/about_us.htmlTo learn more about TRUST Indiana:https://www.trustindiana.in.govTo read Senate Bill 1:https://iga.in.gov/legislative/2025/bills/senate/1/details\n
